For a drop shot the goal is to land it so short so that your opponent doesn't reach it.
To do this you have to have three things:
- Shortness
- Softness
- Backspin
Shortness- You have to barely hit the back of the ball so that it barely goes over the net, you cant aim high, you have to hit it low as well
Softness- You have to hit the underneath of the ball so that it has a soft bounce when it hits the ground.
Backspin- this will seal the deal, if you hit enough backspin, the ball will bounce back or it will stop in its tracks. If you don't hit enough your drop shot will be easy to get.

This is a very tricky and sly and gutsy shot. You have to be very confident when you hit it and you cannot double guess yourself.
